Some of the first advanced civilizations have come from Europe. The Greeks, Romans, Macedonians, Gallic, Germanic and Celtic tribes ruled this area. Of these, Romans and Greeks have had the biggest effect worldwide. From a Democracy in Athens to the Roman Republic, the politics of countries has changed dramatically. Language has its roots, at least scientifically, in these cultures, and was passed on by these cultures. Our names and very way of life is descended from these magnificent cultures. My name, Neil, comes from ancient Gallic Niall, meaning champion. We aren't native to the Americas, and most of us are descended from Europeans. Our history is a reflection of the present time, predominantly the Romans. This progression of Greek and Roman, called Hellenic, views is known as Western. By Western, the Romans and Greeks formed the very mindset of what is to be looked at as the best a society or nation can be. They attempted to follow this framework. Many Europeans based themselves off of these ancient cultures. The Eastern Roman Empire became the Byzantines, and outlived their Western counterpart. The Roman Catholic Church soon filled what was left behind. After the Dark Ages of Europe ended, ancient ideals came forth again. Militaries based off the Legions were seen again, and tyrannical rulers looked to the past.
Our identity as Europeans or of European descent comes directly from the ancients already discussed. Politics, art, music, architecture, philosophy, sciences, math, history, all aspects of a culture, are derived from the ancient West. So instead of keeping Europe's way of thinking, we need to add to it, in progression of the Western Civilization.

Leave it to Neil to blow everyone away with his vast knowledge. I really enjoyed reading your post, however, I wish you could have expanded on some of the topics you listed at the ending of it. But, anyway, great answer.

Democracy and Republics come from Rome and Athens, giving shape to our government. Herodotus is the father of history, as he was the first to write a factual account of the Peloponnesian War. Doctors are required to take a Hippocratic oath, based off of Hippocrates, a Greek philosopher and scientist. Pythagoras, a Greek mathematician, is responsible for some of our mathematical principles. Dramas, tragedies, and plays may have morphed into reality tv shows and given shape to modern literature. columns, domes and arches are staple in government buildings, and started in Roman and Greek areas. Philosophers such as Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and Archimedes are still common names. I hope this helped.

Some of the influences throughout European history is the white house and our government. It all came from the Roman's government. I think we should still be connected to European culture because most of our culture is mostly European and we can learn more from the Europeans. Europeans give us a lot of culture and give us the three branches if government. So. in my opinion I think we shouldn't change anything at all and keep getting influenced by the Europeans.

I agree about what you said about its influence in our buildings and government. I also liked how you explained the connects with Europe. I agree that we should remain connected with European's culture, but what do you think would happen if we stopped being connected with Europe's understanding of the world? I enjoyed reading your comment and I think you did a good job explaining it.

I definitely agree that Europe has influenced us. What other ways do you think Europe has influenced us besides our government and culture? What are some more specific ways they have affected us? Europeans also have influenced our religions. For example, the Roman Catholic religion has been affected by Romans. What are some sports that have been based off of European sports?

I agree with you that for the most part, the United States has mostly European culture, but do you think that our culture is changing due to all of the immigrants from Mexico? (Many of which are illegal.)

I agree that the things we do today is reflected from Europe, but what things exactly reflect from Europe? I agree that we should remain connected with Europe, and I also agree that one of the reasons we should remain connected with them is because of the religions, but what would happen if we stopped being connected with Europe? Would it be a good change, a bad change, or would nothing change? Good answer and I really enjoyed reading it.

Europe has had many impacts on the culture of america. I feel that the main way that europe affected this part of the world was through our architecture. Most of our nations government buildings display european culture. Most of the people who now call America home come from european ancestry. I have ancestors that came from europe, and it has a huge affect on the population of the US. I think that we should remain connected to europes understanding of the world while still maintaining our own ideas and building off of those. I think that the europeans had a good understanding of the world and we certainly have a lot of things to learn from them.

Europe's history has many influences on our world today. Romans and Greeks have the biggest effect on us around the world. Many of our government buildings that are displayed from European culture. For example, the White House. This all comes from the Romans. Many of the religions many of us believe in today came from Europe. For example, the Catholic religion. It is also known as Roman Catholic which by the title, came from Romans. Also, some people that live in America came from Europe. This is also influences our culture. I believe that we should remain connected to Europe's understanding of the world, but I also believe that we should make up our own ideas and choices. The reason why I believe this is because Europe gives us a lot of culture. It helps us with our buildings, government, religions, and so much more. This is why I believe we should keep the Europe's way of thinking.

I agree with your answer. Now that I look around more, I realize how much Europe has influenced everything we have. Not only did it influence our government and buildings, but it also influenced our religion. Do you think that the Catholic religion would not have been so widely spread if Europe hadn't embraced it in a way? I agree that "we should keep the Europe's way of thinking," but I also think that we should add our own touch to everything we get from them as well. What sports do you think have been influenced by Europe?

Europe has had many influences on the way our world is today, but I believe the biggest influence has been the way our architecture is. Our government buildings all portray European architecture. Also, many of the citizens of today hail from European ancestry. I myself have European ancestors. European influences have strongly shaped our American values too and many of the things we find important to us. The Greeks had Olympics which we now experience and are very important to many people. They also gave us other sports that are American favorites like wrestling and NSCAR racing which stemmed from chariot racing. Some religions that Americans worship also came from Europe like the Roman Catholic religion. I think we need to remain connected to Europe's understanding of the world because they have shaped our world so far, but I also believe that we need to branch out and make our own choices, but overall, I think we should keep in touch with Europe's way of understanding.

Europe has had many influences on the way our world is today. I think architecture is probably the biggest influence though. Most of our nations government buildings display European culture like the White House. Lots of the people in America have ancestors that came from Europe including me. European influences have strongly shaped American life and things we find important. The Greeks started the Olympics which we now are a part of and they brought us other sports like wrestling and NASCAR. I think that we should stay connected because they have shaped our world so far, so we should see how they will shape us next.

A lot of people we know to this day are from Europe. Europe is very large, and a lot of our lives have been influenced by the European traditions.
A lot of our capital buildings are influenced by Europe. The White House even shows some Roman features. Many people don't realize that. We also adopted the idea of having the Olympics. Greeks use to hold the Olympics, but people would have to be nude to compete. Some religions didn't approve of the nudity. Jews were one of the many people to not approve of it, but because of the influence Europeans had on the world, some people were willing to go against their religion just to be a part of the Olympics. We also currently enjoy NASCAR which can be traced back to chariot racing. We are also able to trace back religions to Europe. For example, Catholics have been influenced by Europe greatly. Some people call themselves Roman Catholics. obviously by the name, they were influenced by Romans.
I think we should stay connected to Europe for many reasons. Europe is very large, so t has a lot of influence on our country. Even some of our government and our buildings are influenced by Europe. Staying close to Europe is a good idea, but we don't want to follow exactly in their footsteps. If we add our own touch to the European ways, then we would have a way to stay connected, but yet apart. In a general idea, I think we should stay connected.

I agree Jessica that we dont have to follow them exactly, but add our own to style to it. If we Stay close to Europe then we may still get more ideas from them, and keep being influenced like we have already been by them.

America was heavily influenced by ideas and philosophies that originally came from Europe. Since Europe is so much older, of course we drew from their beautiful architecture, art, and vast ideas on the world. The notion of a republic came from Ancient Romans, but a lot of what America wanted to do with politics came very much from Great Britain. America's legal structure is also based on English Common Law.
I think we should stay connected to Europe's understanding of the world. Drawing from their theories and what they thought was beautiful and just, has pushed us this far in our journey as a country. So, staying connected would help us expand.

Europe has had a lot of influence in our world, the people who created this country are from there. Our words come from Europe. A lot of us have ancestors from Europe. Many of our philosophizes and ideas come from Europe. I think we should stay connected to europes understanding of the world because Europe has always been creative and curious and has henceforth created many good ideals.

Europe has had many influences on our world today but I think the biggest impact is the architecture. I think it is the architecture because most of our government buildings are modeled after many of Europe's buildings. Another influence Europe has had on us is sporting events, like the Olympics and other sporting events. Europe has also influenced some of our religions like roman catholic. I think we should stay connected with Europe for many reasons like that they are a large power in the world and they could trade with us and help us in any wars we enter. so over all I think we should stay connected to Europe.

Europe has many influences on our world today. Some buildings are even influenced by Europe. The white house shows some features. Sports are a huge influence. Like NASCAR is related to chariot races, and the Olympic games are a big event that is based on the Olympic Greek games. The only thing was that the games were played nude back then. Some religions were not very happy with the nude games. Speaking of religion, the Roman Catholics were influenced by Romans. There are a lot of influences that Europe took a big part in. We should stay Connected to Europe because one it gave us a lot of influences that have impacted immensely on our country, and then also it is very big. We should stay very close to Europe in my opinion.
